We slowed down to a crawl today with a very tight and range bound trading day. Volume dropped off to 1.9 million today after yesterdays 3 million plus. Hopefully the market will face the piper on some of the valuations in equities and get this cleaned out in the third quarter. September is known as the worst performing month on the indexes and it has basically started off with the kind of direction to propel the markets lower. Lots of support here, but for how long?

Open today came in at 1003.00, down 4 points from Friday's 1007.00 close. Today was mostly consolidated hitting a high of 1007.75 and a low of 998.25, leaving us a range of 9.5 points.

Today we closed trading at 1005.50, making only 2.5 points gain from open. Today's 1007.00 gap from Friday was filled.

Trading Day Friday, August 7th

Hello Traders, Today was a nice up day on the market. Started with a 10 point gap to the upside to open at 1005. Only filled part of the gap and made its low within the first few minutes at 999.50. Moved up from there a good part of the day to reach at high at 1016. Sold off part of that to closed at 1007. Over all the volume was a bit higher at 1.97 million contracts. That is higher than the average over the last few months. Hope you have a great weekend and we will see what Monday brings.

Trading Day Thursday, July 30th

Hello Traders, Wow!! What an exciting market day today with a good bit of movement in both directions. The market started off with a 11.5 point gap to the upside to open at 983.75 and quickly reached its low of the day at 981.50 which did not close the gap but only made a minor dent in it. Within the first hour got to its high at 994.00 and move sideways into a "wedge" pattern. The last half hour of the day it broke thru the bottom of the wedge and headed back down to where it started to end the day at 982.50. One of the interesting things about the move down late in the day was the volume pickup as it did it. This morning volume move up was at 75K contracts in comparison to the move down which was at 85K contracts. Hum!! Looks like that gap is soon to be closed. We shall see what tomorrow brings. The S&P 500 basically rallied all day. The market was being bought on any slow down. It is amazing to see these bullish rallies. Especially in the light of the earnings that came out after the market closed. Microsoft profit dropped 29% as consumer demand for PC's is dropping revenues causing shares to drop. Microsoft, American Express and Amazon were another three that reported after the close with negative effects. American Express is seeing pull backs on the payments by cardholders on top of dropping the available money to lend around 25% from one year ago.

Lots of traders still on the side lines, so there is some cash out there. Be careful holding into the close.

Open today was 872.75, 4.25 points down from yesterday's close. We had a run up first thing to our high of 880.25, then turned and headed to our low of 868.75 giving us a range of 11.5 points today. For the afternoon we consolidated into a 3.5 point range between 872.75 and 876.25. We closed the day and the week today at 974.25.
